God is Great
Our God is strong, and he is loving. He has faithfully provided for me to do this internship and be a part of his work at this church. Thank you for being faithful to be a part of this; without your generosity, prayer, and support, I would not be able to be on this journey.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Up until the end of the month I was still finishing up raising enough support to begin my internship, and then I started working during the last week of the month!
My First Week
Last week was my first week spent in the office; I work in a huge room called ‘intern alley’ which is a co-working space with interns and staff from all of the campus and central ministries.
What I’ve started working on is redesigning our counseling center website; I’ve done freelance web development for over 5 years now, and I’m glad to be able to use that skill to bless the church! Our aim is to improve our site to better serve our counselees, and also provide resources and training for our community. We have a lot of churches that come to us to learn and grow in their counseling efforts, so this will be a great opportunity to be more helpful in that respect. We put on counseling training classes and community wide events as well, and the website will be home to everything related to that.
Additionally, we provide counseling for missionaries through the Stone’s 100 People Network as well as other missions organizations outside our church. Our new website will also function to help us provide ongoing care to those men and women as well.
This is our current site, and I’ll be sure to post a link to the new site as soon as it is live.
We’re about to enter into a busy season where several training events and class series are about to begin that will help equip our church and others in the city in biblical counseling. I’ll be a part of the planning process for those events, and while I don’t know what that looks like yet, it’s looking like this next month will be a large month of learning.
Regarding the care for missionaries through the 100 People Network and other organizations, I am going to get the opportunity to develop a comprehensive care process so that we can best serve those people. This will include counseling sessions both before they leave the country and throughout their duration as a missionary. I’m really excited to be a part of their care and discipleship!
